Summary/Abstract: Our research has as starting point a sigillion, a document bearing the rights of the rector over the parish and believers affiliated to it. Its owner, Iosif Ighian, was appointed as priest in Muncel by bishop Vasile Moga in 1812. Documentary holdings of Campeni Orthodox Archpriestship preserved in Alba County Department of National Archives allowed working on biography of Iosif Ighian who became administrator of Bălgradul de Jos Archpriestship, then rector of Zlatna. His relationships with bishops Vasile Moga and Andrei Şaguna, with priests from parishes under the jurisdiction of his wide archpriestship, are reflected in the documents of time, pointing out the harsh confessional environment that the rector knew to handle tactfully.
