Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to connect the work of John Berger, a versatile artist, critic, activist, with other renowened artists, social and literary critics of similar convictions. Special attention is payed to Berger’s novel G., notably to segments exemplifying Berger’s feminist orientation. Berger’s novel is placed within the humanist tradition in social and cultural criticism. Furthermore, the paper deals with other theoretical works of this author. In conclusion, this paper underlines the connection between feminism, humanism, activism and art, and contrasts them to globalisation as the dominant economical, political and ideological construct of modern societies.
