Polish Priests in the Těšín Region Parishes

Summary/Abstract: Paper aims to give focus on the general linguistic phenomena and the mutual relation between the language and the religious life. In the introduction the authors describe the bilingual nature of the Czech part of Těńín Silesia and the attitudes of the local speakers to the language codes, or more precisely the regional subcode used. In another part of the paper the authors deal with Polish priests and their work in the region – they present their numbers, places of origin, their motivation to come to the Czech Republic, etc.
