Appelative form surnames of the inhabitants of Śląsk Cieszyński in the 19th century as a medium of regional values

Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to describe the appelative form surnames of the inhabitants of Cieszyn and surrounding areas in 19th century in the context of the regional culture. The discussed anthroponyms are included in the charateristic values of this region. During the analysis of the collected surnames the genetic applative basis was described. The basis stemmed from different language varieties, for example the national language (literary) or Polish dialects. In the article the classification consisting of both semantic and structural side was implemented. In the semantic analysis of nonderivative surnames the author tried to find their conceptual structure in order to illustrate the cultural and lingustic conditions of the name-giving act.
