Two generic terms from the lexical-semantic field of the forest: forest and grove

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the linguistic and extra-linguistic monograph of two very important terms (CODRU and CRANG) which belong to the lexico-semantic field of forest. We review the plethora of meanings registered in various lexicographic papers and linguistic atlases; we also specify the area of the two terms, the etymology and evolution of meanings, their extensions in toponymy, anthroponymy, phraseology and paremiology. Not least, we trace the occurrence of the two terms in Mihai Eminescu’s poetry.
