Summary/Abstract: Our contemporary age is in a constant transformation, so it is hard to defi ne it. Postmodern seems to be an adequate term to describe the main characteristics of our contemporary society and individual. Each and every pedagogical system is based on a worldview. Th e basis and purpose of it is to transmit values, to off er a basis of knowledge that is enough for the individual to live in the society. Th e plurality of the postmodern values change, past values are not important any more, the whole system of values is converted. A view on future is the basis of the education. But what if the postmodern has no kind of view on any future? Does pedagogy then lose its sense and direction? Th e paper presents a way of education in the postmodern culture. Th e author tries to solve the dilemma of the traditional theoretical education. Does it have any future? What happens with the families, with the children in the postmodern age? What is the role of the teacher in the educational process? How can she/he optimize his/her motivational tools? How does a pupil think of him/herself, what is his/her view on the future? What is his/her situation in school? How should the Catholic Church act as educator?
