Summary/Abstract: Educational and disciplinary principles in the schools of the Transylvanian Catholic Status based on the discourses of the honorary canon Pál István. The lectures and writings of Pál István clearly express those ideas and conceptions that defi ned the most essential principles of discipline in the Transylvanian Catholic schools at the beginning of the 19th century. The aforementioned lectures provide a mesmerizing insight into the most outstanding problems of the era by describing the powerful impact of liberalism on the education and the considerable eff orts made to sustain the true values of the Catholic community in Transylvania.
