Summary/Abstract: Áron Márton was always prepared when he made a sermon or a speech. His preparation is shown by the abstracts of his speeches which are full of corrections. Th e researcher can conclude that the first, later corrected version shows the original, emotional reaction of Áron Márton to the theme, the later, corrected version shows his contemplation, the process of analyzing the themes. Dániel Zomora preposite of the diocese was very close to the bishop. When preparing for his funeral on Febr. 11, 1944, he was especially thorough. The speech was edited in a newpaper, the “Déli Hírlap” two days aft er the funeral. The speech preseved in the handwriting of the bishop and the edited version are slightly diff erent. It is hard to decide which version was the one that Áron Márton told at the funeral. We might say it was the corrected version. It is interesting to note those details that were not published and that were probably also not told at the funeral. Áron Márton considered some details were not to be told in public. In order to see the correcting work of the bishop which show how he thought, here we publish a critical version of the text.
