Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the issues of the functioning of Polish education after World War II. That period, examined in the article, was marked by many problems, while interesting from the point of view of organizing the post-war state and the ubiquitous party agents in public life. The text shows the evolution of the legal education system since 1944, i.e. since the release of the Manifesto PKWN (Polish Committee for National Liberation) to 1961. The second part of the article focuses on 1961, when the first comprehensive law on education was released for native education, and the time of the Round Table and first democratic reforms. The issue of educational law – especially in terms of legal history – has been analyzed only marginally. Lack of studies of this subject, and the literature available on the market, comes from the years of communist propaganda and – in this sense – is not a scientific value. Even a partial attempt to fill this gap, thus seemed well founded.
