Summary/Abstract: The article describes the situation of the Roma in the Hungarian city of Miskolc. They constitute the largest ethnic minority in the city. The first part of the text focuses on the radicalization of national and local politics towards the Roma community. The result has been the rise of discriminatory processes affecting the Roma in many spheres of social life, including education, housing and the law. The second part of the article focuses on Roma rap, which remains a form of symbolic opposition to the sharpening discourse on the “Roma question” in Miskolc and Hungary.
