CONTRIBUTION OF RELIGIOUS ASSISTANCE IN INCREASING THE CHRISTIAN MORAL VALUES OF ROMANIAN ARMED FORCES PARTICIPATING TO MISSIONS IN THE NATIONAL SPACE AND/OR OUTSIDE THE NATIONAL TERRITORY

Summary/Abstract: Religious activity in the Romanian Army is conducted in accordance with Law no. 195/2000 (Law on the establishment, organization and functioning of military clergy) and the main mission of the chaplain is to ensure a normal religious life to the military, civilian contract personnel and their family members. This mission has an instructive character, to substantiate deepening knowledge and ancestral Orthodox faith, and an educational aspect, which aims to foster and develop moral-religious and social life of the military. Presence and activity of the military priest in the Romanian Armed Forces structures is the guarantee of exercising religious faith by each military, to ensure the right to a normal religious life, depending on the confession or religion to which he belongs, in spirit of the tolerance and mutual respect.
