Serbian verbs with prefix na- and their English equivalents

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes Serbian verbs with prefix na- and their translation equivalents in English from the stance of semantic categorization, but also aspect as a grammatical and Aktionsart as a lexical category. The aim of the paper, apart from finding translation equivalents, is an effort to categorize them in order for certain paterns to be established. In the end, it is confirmed that the specifications of meaning related to the prefixes in Serbian are not transfered to English only by verb lexemes, but also by other syntactic means, and that prefixation in Serbian influences aspect, as well as Aktionsart.
