Summary/Abstract: The paper reviews the contributions Stefan Mladenov made to Paleo-Balkan linguistics and in particular to the studies of the Thracian language via his research on Balkan hydronyms. The etymology of the names of several important rivers and the diachronic development of the names are presented, as well as the intrepretations of Thracian scholars of Mladenov's findings.
