Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the circumstances of the attempts to found four towns located near the borders of the Zamoyski Family Entail, which were made by their owners in the first half of the 17th century, including: Łaszczówka, Bełżec, Chocimów and Modliborzyce. In the case of the two of these initiatives: Bełżec and Chocimów, the owners and administration of the Entail tried to force those who had initiated the foundations to stop them, while the foundation of Modliborzyce was prevented by establishing, at a distance of 8 kilometres, the entail town of Janów. There is no information concerning a possible reaction to the founding of Łaszczówka, which, being founded 5 kilometres from Tomaszów, never developed into a more significant town. This remark also regards Modliborzyce.
