Everlasting Values in Andrej Mitrović’s Works From the Cycle on Serbia and the Balkans

Summary/Abstract: Profesor Mitrović started his carrier with the book Jugoslavija na Konferenciji mira 1919-1920 (Yugoslavia at the Paris Peace Conference 1919-1920). His research was further dedicated to the topics from the period between the two world wars, phenomenon of fascism. His famous book Vreme netrpeljivih (The Times of the Intolerant) was published in 1974. However, he gradually returns to the themes from the First World War and Serbian-Austrian relations before the war. He wrote the most thorough and comprehensive studies and monographs abut the First World War and both German and Austro-Hungarian politics in the Balkans and Serbia at the beginning of the 20th century – Ustaničke borbe u Srbiji 1916-1918, Srbija u Prvom svetskom ratu (Serbia’s Great War 1914-1918), Prodor na Balkan, Srbija u planovima Austro-Ugarske i Nemačke 1908-1918. Being an outstanding expert on German, Austrian and Serbian sources, he was able to address the whole range of themes about the Balkans and the First World War 1908-1918 diligently and scrupulously.
