Summary/Abstract: Father Aleksander Jełowicki (1804–1877), Resurrectionist, was a gifted preacher, author, translator and publisher of religious books, as well as the first and long-standing rector of the Polish Catholic Mission in France (Paris). As a faithful follower of Servant of God Bogdan Jański (1807–1840), Jełowicki contributed to clergy formation in many fields: working for the renewal of the Greek College and the foundation of the Polish College in Rome; helping Polish priest-émigrés after the failure of the January Uprising (1863–1864); publishing religious books. In his letters, Fr. Jełowicki left many still up-to- -date thoughts and directives concerning vocational discernment, seminary formation as well as the life and service of a priest.
