Summary/Abstract: Current economic ties between Poland and Germany are impressive, with Germany as Poland’s main trading partner accounting for one fourth of Polish imports and exports. Germany is also the number one foreign direct investor in Poland, but these well-founded relations cannot be taken for granted, particularly given the ongoing gradual transition towards the Industrie 4.0 initiative, which is bound to revolutionise manufacturing worldwide and shape the industry landscape in Europe. The resulting multifold challenges mean that partners should prepare to face the new requirements in order to adapt smoothly to new work organisation. Infrastructure and technology should be adjusted to safeguard minimal compatibility and continuity of cooperation, which is why Industrie 4.0 launched in Germany deserves attention in Poland as well.
