Summary/Abstract: The objective of this article is to present the patient’s right to pastoral care, with reference to the legal status of a given religious group. The analysis is conducted pursuant to the principle of equal rights of churches and other religious organisations (Art. 25.1 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland of April 2nd 1997). The author presents legal guarantees of the patient’s right to pastoral care, and discusses the right of churches and other religious organisations to provide patients with pastoral care during hospitalisation. The theoretical findings were compared with the practice of medical entities in Poland in terms of application of the right to pastoral care. The final section of the article provides some practical proposals.
