Summary/Abstract: The aim of this research was to study the relationship between the self-esteem level and the satisfaction with sexual life. The study was conducted on 60 participants (30 women and 30 men) aged from 22 to 53. Multidimensional Self-Esteem Inventory Questionnaire (MSEI), Sexual Satisfaction Questionnaire and an original questionnaire were used. In case of women, a moderately strong and negative correlation between the vitality component of the scale and sexual life satisfaction was indicated – the bigger the vitality, the lower the sexual life satisfaction was. Among men, a moderately strong and positive correlations were observed between five components of the self-esteem scale (competence, sense of being loved, popularity, physical attractiveness, vitality) and sense of satisfaction with sexual life. The higher the component level, the higher the sense of satisfaction was. A difference in sexual satisfaction between sexes was noted: men had higher levels of the sexual life satisfaction. A correlation between the relationship duration and satisfaction with sexual life was confirmed in women – the longer the relationship was, the bigger the satisfaction. This dependence was not confirmed in male participants.
