Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to study representations of personal identity in cyberpunk movies, where the human body undergoes radical changes (i.e. implants, plugins which enable immersion in a virtual reality or complete body dentures). Transformations of body entail transformations in personal identity. The movies discussed here are treated as a laboratory for investigating how body changes and memory manipulations transform one’s identity. These all lead to the experience of some existential uncertainty of one’s self’. The scale of possible changes in the body and mind forces protagonists to constantly reflect on their own identity. Therefore, in this context, one should speak about the post-, or (non)identity, which is presented differently in each of the films discussed in the paper.
