Summary/Abstract: Ragusean renaissance writer and philosopher Nikola Vidov Gučetić is the author of two dialogs from the end of XVI century: Dialogo della Bellezza and Dialogo d’Amore. As the neoaristotelian, Gučetić tries to relate Aristoteles and Plato, through the dialogs of two significant Ragusean women – Mara Gundulić and Cvijeta Zuzorić. Through the analyze of Platonic dialogs of Nikola Vidov Gučetić, Veselin Kostić explains thoroughly the influence of Plato’s philosophical system to renaissance; he discusses the most important classical and Christian philosophers, to give an argumentation and complete his own opinions. Considering the fact that new renaissance point of views developed in areas of Latinist culture, especially in Italian platonic academies, Ragusean author confirmed with his dialogues that Dubrovnik followed European culture creation. Although he never studied abroad, he created highly esteemed scientific works that prove very valuable Ragusean culture. Gučetić’s dialogues about love and beauty reflects humanistic spirit according to the most important streams of philosophical thought of cinquecento; with it’s critical and individual states in context of platonic philosophical thought his works are very precious contribution to European cultural inheritance.
