Summary/Abstract: The study herein aims at analysing the Messianic idea in the history of the Jewish people from the point of view of noological theory, which is the science of sociology bringing to the forefront the importance of spiritual factors in the comprehension and research of societies. After a short review of the moments recorded in history as Messianic events, we analyse the Sabbatian movement which has been considered the most important manifestation of such nature in the Jews’ history until the present time. In order to facilitate the understanding of Messianic events we also mention data about the social framework which contributed to the birth of such events, along with the cultural context of the communities where Messianic ideas were generated.
