Endogenous Barriers to the Development of Municipal Communities

Summary/Abstract: The article presents data concerning two municipalities of the West-Pomeranian Voivodeship – Ostrowice and Dobra. They are to illustrate the thesis that the capacities of the local community to an endogenous development have run out. Communities are influenced by external forces in spite of all their differences in the same way: by shutting down. In the case of Ostrowice it is a shutdown for the outside world, and in the case of Dobra it is an inside shut-down consisting in dominating the community by migration waves not interested in the development of the whole community.
