Summary/Abstract: Demographic changes and migrations generate social problems that need effective methods to solve them on part of the family and social policies. One of challenges in the contemporary societies is the organization of care for elderly people. Undoubtedly, growing old societies and women’s migration influence the functioning of the care system in families to a big extent. In many countries the protective function is quite often performed by women, mothers and daughters. The article presents partial results of the research carried out on Polish female migrants in Norway and on social workers, experts in the care system, and on priests in Poland. An attempt has been taken to answer the question concerning the realisation of the care tasks by migrating daughters/sons towards their parents.
