Summary/Abstract: The article is a continuation of the analysis of religious observances celebrated by secondary-school and university students (Opuscula Sociologica 2016, 1). The stress has been put on the declarations of the young people concerning their participation in non-obligatory religious observances (individual prayers, church services, confessions and communions on various days, a Mass on weekdays). The author presents an indexation of selected religious observances and the determinants of readiness of respondents to participate in the observances. The analyses have been based on the results of the sociological research carried out by the author in 2011 on secondary-school students from Kalisz (456) and on university students from Poznań (426) with the use of a questionnaire. The research has proved that the type of school – that is to say the age of the respondents – influences their participation in nonobligatory observances more than their sex. Actually, religiousness and religious indifference influence their participation in religious observances. Individual prayer is said 52% of the respondents with various frequency, and 41.4% do not say it at all. Comparing these results with the previous ones it may be said that the percentage of second-school and university students who have given up nonobligatory religious observances has increased.
