The analysis of changes in shaping self-government units debt

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the essence of perception of the current financial standing of local government units in Poland in the period of 2000-2014. The main aim of this article is to answer the following questions: what are the main causes and trends for local governments debt in Poland before and after the acquisition of membership in the European Union and how this debt affects the financial standing of local governments. The conclusions were based on a literature review and analysis of the applicable law, as well as empirical data on the implementation of budgets. The value of the application work will get the answer to the question what the current financial standing of local government entities is and whether it will allow local governments in the long term for timely debt service.
