Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the main directions of development of financial autonomy of universities. The alternative sources of funding universities in terms of the lack of funding are determined. It has been found out that the proper organization of financial structure and expansion of the areas of fundraising by universities contributes to their competitiveness.
