Summary/Abstract: In the process of transferring values children need a model they can watch and identify with. The parents are a symbol and their role in the education towards values is irreplaceable. It is the family that through their lifestyle, customs, habits and traditions shapes the child’s personality, identifies norms, values and behavior patterns. The family defines the goals and values that the children will follow later in life. The basis of the values creation process are: the quality of interpersonal relationships, education objectives, mutual assistance, emotional bond, personal commitment and acceptance of the common value system by parents and children. The level and scope of a child’s identification with the parents is also important as well as the assessment of the parents’ values by a wider social group.
