Summary/Abstract: “The images of others” play an important role in international relations, both in political and social area. They may have the form of resentment in strained relations or exist as positive stereotypes in good relations. These images translate into sympathy or antipathy, confidence or its lack towards other nationalities. Generalizations about “others” are not only an important ideological player, but they have a significant impact on consolidation of certain attitudes and opinions in social consciousness. The case of the “Russian image” is created in Poland likewise. Difficult Polish neighborhood with Russia has a long history and goes on many levels at once. The author describes dynamics of changes in the “Russian image” in Poland and Poles’ social attitudes to Russians, basing on the theory of Zbigniew Bokszański and sociological research.
