Summary/Abstract: During the past years much more information has become available on workaholism or work addiction. This term is most commonly used to encompass the compulsive need to work with resulting health problems, diminished life satisfaction, damaged interpersonal relationships, and impoverished social relationships. It has been suggested that workaholism, burnout, and work engagement are distinct constructs. The aim of this paper is to briefl y introduce the topic of workaholism and to identify some of the key conceptual and empirical issues related to workaholism.
