Summary/Abstract: The object of this paper is to analyse the way in which philosopher LucianBlaga and historian of religion Mircea Eliade define and contextualise the archetypal conceptsMyth and Magic, while sustaining the argument that although their approach differssignificantly, their ideas converge to a great degree regarding the transcendental aspect inherentmythical and magical experience. The conclusion drawn is that in both writers’ frameworks,Myth and Magic act as mechanisms of transgression, allowing the Self to defy the boundariesthe real in order to gain revelatory insight into the Absolute lying beyond.
