On Morphosyntactic Characteristics of Perfect and Its Stylistic Value in the Language of Petar II Petrovic Njegos

Summary/Abstract: The subject of this paper treats the most striking morphosyntactic and stylistic features of the perfect tense in the language of Petar II Petrovic Njegos. The language of Njegos, when this problematic is in question, is placed in the frames according to the language standards, on one side, dialectic basis of the author native tongue (the speech of Cetinje-Njegusi), and on the other, to the language of other authors coming from Montenegrin literary tradition, without overlooking, though, the individual characteristics of poetic genius of Njegos. The analysis includes the illustrative examples of the indicative, relative and modally used perfect, as well as examples of qualificative and gnomic perfect use, stressing also the morphological characteristics of certain forms of perfect. The special accent is put on morphosyntactic characteristics of truncated perfect and its stylistic marking.
