Njegos and the Slovenian People

Summary/Abstract: The author presents the relationship between Njegos and his work on the one hand, and Slovenia and Slovenes on the other, clearly offering data on the critical reception of the works of Njegos while living in Slovenia and his life in the following period, then talking about the problems of translation into Slovenian, as well as responses of professional and general audience . This paper represents an overview of the book of Njegoš in Slovenia today, as well as responses of literary criticism found in the first newspapers in Montenegro in Slovenia. The paper particularly describes contacts between Njegoš and his contemporary Kopitar, as well as the friendship with Miklošič and Vraz.
