Summary/Abstract: The paper investigates the reach of thoughts and linguistic attitudes of Wilhelm von Humboldt in Spanish linguistics and determines to what extent and in which aspects his work is present in papers of eminent Spanish linguists. Special chapters were dedicated to the theoretical aspects of reception that we followed in the paper, the situation in Spanish linguistics that preceded Von Humboldt‘s work and served as a framework for the reception of his ideas on the Peninsula. In the last chapters we developed the reception in linguistics and the philosophy of language, as well as the relation and influencies between Von Humboldt and the Basque language (and linguists) as a representative example of the confirmation of his ideas. The objective of the paper is general overview (based on the accessible literature in Serbia) of the reception of Wilhelm von Humboldt‘s work, but, whenever it was possible, we emphasized the most important influences of certain facets of Humboldt‘s language theory in the works of outstanding Spanish linguists, as a potential field for further research.
