Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the polysemy of the adjective good, aiming to establish the conditions and feasible solutions in using this term, with particular emphasis on the views expressed by minimalist approach to generative lexicon, as well as cognitive semantics. Various definitions of polysemy in general, as well as the causes of this phenomenon are considered in the paper. Furthermore, primary and secondary meanings of the adjective good as free syntagmatic item, in which this lexeme is realized with complementary noun lexemes are being analyzed, as to conclude the volume of their combination in reaching a primary or secondary meaning. The study is based on analysis of the definition of primary and secondary meanings of lexemes, as well as the treatment of radial categories for fuzzy expressions and metaphors.
