Summary/Abstract: On the national, European and global scale the issues of the scientific service of tourism become more and more topical. The main reason for that are the increasing dimensions of the need for scientific information on the formation and the realization of the international, national, regional and local tourism policy. The present paper is devoted to some insufficiently investigated in the specialized literature problems, connected with the tourism policy. Its aim is to study the achievements in the development of the science of tourism and on that basis to characterize and assess the place and role of tourism policy in its current and future development. The principal emphasis in the study is laid on the integration of the political dimensions oftourism in the object and the subject of the science of that phenomenon. The main conclusions, which are summed up in this connection, refer to the following: the insufficient scale and purposefulness of the studies of tourism policy; the growing need for and significance of these studies; the need for an integrated and interdisciplinary approach in the process of their realization and focusing the attention not only on the theoretical and methodological, but also on the applied studies in that direction. In the study - for the first time in the national science of tourism - there is revealed the complex nature and the characteristic features of tourism policy in the context of the achievements of the modern science of tourism. Its underlying thesis is connected with the need for complex and extensive research, on the basis of which to form an effectively functioning system of the tourism policy in Republic of Bulgaria.
