Maritime education – preliminary literature review

Summary/Abstract: An important issue that needs to be explored in the context of exploring further perspectives for the expansion of shipping industry is maritime education, understood for the purposes of this initial study as a system for educating mariners and seafarers. According to the author, in the last decade the most important issue in the academic discourse on maritime education is the analysis of the quality of higher education in maritime schools, striving to formulate solutions in this area (pursuing global standardization of this education using modern communication technologies) as a response to the outflow of candidates to maritime occupations and the increasing demand of the shipping and marine industry.
