Experimental archaeology as the basis of the method of use trace studies. A case study: the use of borers in prehistory

Summary/Abstract: This study presents the use traces that occur on experimental tools used in boring/ drilling materials of diverse origins. The wear from the experimental tools was compared, through microscopic analysis, to those observed on borers from the Chalcolithic settlement at Fulgeriş ‘La Trei Cireşi’, Cucuteni phase A3 culture. The aim of this work was to interpret the ways (material and kinematics) these artefacts were used in prehistoric times.
