Summary/Abstract: In this study, French writer René Goscinny’s Pıtırcık (Küçük Pıtırcık, Pıtırcık’ın Bisikleti, Pıtırcık Futbolcu, Pıtırcık Tatilde, Pıtırcık Kampta, Pıtırcık Satranç Oynuyor, Pıtırcık Pazara Gidiyor, Pıtırcık’a Bir Öpücük) and Turkish writer Rıfat Ilgaz’s Bacaksız (Bacaksız Kamyon Sürücüsü, Bacaksız Sigara Kaçakçısı, Bacaksız Okulda, Bacaksız Paralı Atlet, Bacaksız Tatil Köyünde) are analyzed in terms of violence in family and school through the main characters. The negative effects of domestic violence and violence in school on the physical and psychological development of children are tried to be compared according to eclectic method. Both writers’ approach towards domestic violence and violence in school are examined. The importance of the subject is pointed in context of child and youth literature. The main aim of analyzing these two writers is that they gave parallel products with common sensibility in spite of living in different geographies and different cultures. They mention the fact of violence which more or less exists in the world. Especially they narrate how violence affects children both physically and psychologically. They discuss domestic violence drawing attention to the fact that children are one of the most influenced groups. Through the heroes’ childish dreams they point out how violence is oppressing like a nightmare. The aim of this study is to exhibit the differences and similarities of literary works, whose writers lived in different cultures but wrote on similar subjects, in terms of violence in family and school.
