Summary/Abstract: Health spending in European countries grew until 2009 at a faster pace than in other sectors of the economy and the health sector is gaining a larger share of gross domestic product (GDP). At a time of financial and economic crisis in 2008 many European countries have begun to reduce health expenditure in order to cope with large budget deficits and increasing debt ratio. Although these restrictions were necessary, some measures may have an impact on the modification of the fundamental objectives of health systems. Continuous monitoring of data, health indicators and health systems is now extremely important. For this reason, it is essential to underpin the underlying determinants of lifestyle diseases in developed countries which influence health financing system directly, as well as indirectly and they are reflected in many indicators and determinants of life expectancy. In this paper, I pay attention to selected determinants such as alcoholism, smoking and obesity that have side effects apparent not only from a macro point of view, but also greatly affect the quality of life of individuals, whether in primary or caused intentions.
