Summary/Abstract: Pope Francis appealed to the Synod of Bishops for a reflection over the family. An Extraordinary General Meeting was already held in October 2014. The next debate will be during the Ordinary General Meeting (October 2015). Therefore with this fact, all believers have been asked to make a reflection on the Christian family built on the sacramental union. The present article is trying to become an answer to this papal summons. It is an attempt of the response to the need to consider some aspects of the crisis that threatens the contemporary Christian family. The key question, which here was put, is the following: “Do young people still want to start up a family on the basis of Christian values? What do bishops (and other synod fathers) think about the issue?”. An analysis of the literature let the author of the article to put the following conclusions. In spite of many indications of the crisis of the institution of the family one should still look with hope for its future. Likewise, as regards the results of the debate of the synod which will be in October in Rome, one should assume that contrary opinions and positions which are appearing in the discourse about the family, don’t result from the ill will of her participants. It is rather a fruit of different pastoral strategies, wanting to use the unchanging doctrine of the Church about the family to changing circumstances. What’s more, in this context one should remember the dogma concerning the Holy Spirit and his care, which is realized over the Church and the faithful.
