Summary/Abstract: In the years 1940-1941 there were four deportations of Polish people from parts of the Second Republic of Poland, namely from areas east of the border line established on the grounds of the Third Reich and the Soviet Union agreement. On 10th of February 1940, sister Urszula Furkałowska (Congregation of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception) was among the people first deported. She found herself in unique conditions regarding her religious calling and started noting her reflections in a private journal. The article contains many references to the content of this journal, on the basis of which religious life characteristic to the exile as well as her personal evidence of faith on “inhuman land” can be analyzed.
