Summary/Abstract: The well-known poet Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı’s ‘Ölüm I’ – ‘II’ and the Poem of “Otuz Beş Yaş” are investigated by using semiotic analysis. The aim of the study is to show that the rich semantic universe of poems can be discovered through semiotics which focuses on the deep structure as well as the surface structure of literary works. In the first two poems of these three poems in which the theme is based on death, the poet sees death as a solution to escape from the situation he is in but in the Poem of ‘Otuz Beş Yaş’, emphasising death as the inevitable end for all human beings, the line between life and death is presented with all its nudity through word games describing the changes observed in humans when getting old.
