Summary/Abstract: The issue approached by the concept of sustainable economic development is rather new, vast and complex, so the solutions proposed to ensure the sustainability requires the involvement of some key factors owned by the states of the world that have often very different interests and goals. Hence devolve the preoccupation and view, in different manner, of sustainable development issue. In this context, it is natural to ask: who, how, when, in what conditions and under what motivation will be possible to determine the simultaneous achievement of sustainable development objectives, given that their alignment leads to some limits and paradoxes. In addition, we ask: what are the advantages of sustainable development models functionality at the global level? By this paper we propose to identify some answers to questions about the limits and controversies of sustainability, based on the analysis of literature review and critics related to sustainable development.
