Summary/Abstract: Ancient myths have been one of the biggest sources for arts and literature through the ages. Myths which mirror creation, universe and the human condition have been rewritten in stories, novels, plays, poetry and cinema again and again. As the products of the collective unconscious myths are the leading means of human kind for their search of meaning. This study aims to trace myths in poetry of Gülsüm Cengiz (her poetry books are Eylül Deyişleri, Mayısta Üzgün Gönlüm, Akdeniz’in Rengi Mavi, Sevdamız Çiçeklenir Zulada), who is a poet and children’s literature writer. Throughout the study archetypal criticism will be used for analyzing Cengiz’s usage of myths.
