Summary/Abstract: The paper proposes a methodology for thedimensioning of a natural draft wet cooling tower. Themain geometrical dimensions depend on the packingtype, the cooling and the weather conditions. The studyis based on splitting the tower in three main zones: thespray and packing zone, the rain zone and the naturaldraft zone. The methodology is developed on modularbases, by using block-modules both for the three mainzones of the cooling tower and for the inlet/outlet airproperties. It is useful in explaining to the students thecomplex physical phenomena within the cooling towerbut also for the development of a computer program tobe used in engineering, management and education.
