Summary/Abstract: The trial and decision to outlaw the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People in Russia will have serious consequences for the future of the indigenous people of the peninsula. By erasing the institutions that are internationally recognised to represent Crimean Tatars, the Russian authorities are threatening to erase their way of life altogether.
