Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to describe numerous forms of privatization reversal and of strengthening the role of the government as the owner and as management centre of the economy at the expense of the private sector. The first part of the study defines the problem against the background of literature and presents a typology of different forms of privatization reversal. In the second, main part of the study, many empirical examples of all types of privatization reversal in Poland and Hungary are presented. The last part presents the threats of privatization reversal. We conclude that activities aimed at privatization reversal and retreat from private market economy are in fact an attempt to reverse the history and to destroy the achievements of 27 years of systemic transition in our countries.
