Summary/Abstract: Electronic reverse auctions, having the ability to decrease the prices of products, have grown popular in the procurement communities in recent times and this trend is expected to continue. Electronic reverse auctions are very much dependent on the market conditions and the literature emphasizes the importance of the number of bidders participating in the auction for the result of the auction. Within the paper, we provide the evidence on the impact of competition among suppliers taking part within electronic reverse auctions on the efficiency of the tender. We support the existing studies by evidence provided on recent sample of public procurement data using linear regression.
