Summary/Abstract: For almost 400 years in the celebration of exorcism in the Roman Catholic Church the Roman Ritual of 1614 has been in use. In 1999 the new rite: Exorcism and other prayers imploring was introduced. The article presents the biblical basis of exorcism in the renewed liturgy of the Roman Ritual. The points 1-3 describe the prayers of exorcism as found in the Old and New Testaments. In the point 4 the structure of the renewed Roman Ritual is presented. In the point 5 the Author gives detailed description of the Chapter I of the Roman Ritual, to underline biblical roots of the Rite of Greater Exorcism. In point 6 the common features and differences of exorcism activities described in the Bible and in the renewed Roman Ritual are listed and compared.
